F.A.Q.

What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is hypnosis for the purpose of beneficial change. It is the use of deep relaxation paired with suggestions to become the person you want to become.

How do I know if I can be hypnotized?

It has been my experience that anyone who wants to participate in hypnotherapy can be hypnotized. Some people are more open to suggestion and can be hypnotized more easily than those who tend to be more skeptical of new ideas.

Can I be present when my loved one is receiving hypnotherapy?

Yes, as long as the client gives his or her permission, you can be present.

What is hypnosis used for?

Hypnotherapy is a tool that can help with any type of personal goal that confidence building would benefit including better sleep, public speaking, social phobias, healthier eating patterns, and smoking cessation. It is also very beneficial in managing pain.

What about smoking cessation? Can I quit smoking in just one session?

Many people have quit smoking with hypnotherapy, and many people do report needing only one session. It is important to remember that even those who do not become nonsmokers after one session can use the tools to smoke less, and to eventually become nonsmokers.

How much does it cost?

It is recommended that the first session be for an hour and a half. Therapy is $80 per hour. Some clients prefer to make an appointment for an hour of therapy to discuss their goals, to get to know the therapist, and to become more comfortable with the process, and then set up another appointment for the hypnotherapy to take place at another time.

Is there anything hypnotherapy is not recommended for?

As a licensed counselor, I cannot recommend hypnotherapy to retrieve lost memories, past life regression or dream analysis.

Will I ever not be in control?

If at any time a hypnotherapy client becomes uncomfortable during a hypnotherapy session, he or she has the ability (and the responsibility to self) to end the hypnotherapy session. It has been my experience as a therapist that the only risk to undergoing hypnosis is that some clients become so relaxed that they fall deeply asleep.
